Recycling company saves 30 % of operating costs

With the new SENNEBOGEN 835 G Hybrid, Ashvin Metals in Poulton-Le-Fylde/UK, has optimized its handling processes for non-ferrous metals. Thanks to increased reach, higher lifting capacity, and reduced fuel consumption, the new material handler delivers improved productivity in a compact work area – winning over both operators and management.

Ashvin Metals operates three recycling sites across the United Kingdom and specializes in processing non-ferrous scrap metals such as aluminum, copper, and brass. After delivery by truck, the mixed scrap is separated, compressed, and prepared for further processing. At the Poulton-Le-Fylde site, limited space requires efficient operational organization to ensure smooth processes.

30 % reduction in operating costs

In 2024, the recycling company invested in a new SENNEBOGEN 835 G material handler with an operating weight of 50 tons. The machine is powered by an efficient 210 kW diesel engine. The standard Green Hybrid System reduces fuel consumption by up to 30 % thanks to innovative recuperation technology and makes a significant contribution to increasing efficiency at the site.

Greater Reach

With a reach of 20 m and a 0.8 m³ orange peel grab, the 835 G easily accesses every corner of the recycling yard. The extended reach was a key purchasing criterion, as owner Andrew Dixon explains: “Our previous machine weighed 40 tons – it did the job, but the larger SENNEBOGEN allows us to park it in one corner and still comfortably reach both the shear and scrap boxes.”

A benefit also appreciated by operator Luke Winter: “The extra reach makes life easier. I can service almost the entire yard from the center point. Before, I had to keep repositioning.”

Service impresses

The new purchase of the 835 G was supported by SENNEBOGEN service and sales partner Molson Group. Operations manager Andrew Whitmore is enthusiastic about the support he has received so far: “Machines always have problems from time to time, but with the technical support of the SENNEBOGEN specialists and the 24/7 service, we know that no matter what happens, they will get us up and running again quickly. You don't get that from other dealers.”
