ICM AG offers exclusive factory tours at SK tes China, Baosteel, Shanghai Xin Jinqiao Environmental Protection Co. Ltd., Botree Recycling Technologies, China Recycling Newell Equipment Company, HuaYou Cobalt (TBC) and Jereh Green Resources Recycling (Zhengzhou) Co. Ltd.

The recovery team had the opportunity to talk to Jeanette Duttlinger, founder of ICM AG, about the highlights of the three events in Shanghai.

recovery: Why did you choose Shanghai as the venue for these events? And more importantly, why are you combining three congresses into one large event?

Jeanette Duttlinger: ICM AG began organizing recycling congresses in Asia in 2005, so 20 years ago. Today we are returning to Asia to continue to accompany the fantastic development that this region has shown in this industry over the last few years, which has led to its prominent position in the worldwide recycling market. We chose the Shanghai region this year for its global manufacturing base and significant opportunities for exclusive visits to world-leading companies. We also chose to hold one congress in the fabulous Hotel Pudong Shangri-La focusing on the three main industries ICM AG serves, battery, automotive and electronics reuse and recycling, in response to demand from the market and the many topics to be discussed.

recovery: How many exhibitors and visitors do you expect to attend the three congresses? Will it be an international audience or will the focus be on Asian exhibitors and visitors?

Jeanette Duttlinger: Our congresses are all international, with delegates from around the world. With this congress there is great interest from both Asian and international companies to meet each other, to exchange and learn from each other and of course to do business together! We expect over 400 delegates and exhibitors from many different countries in Asia and beyond.

recovery:  Can you tell us about some highlights for each of the congresses?

Jeanette Duttlinger: Our International Steering Committee is currently finalizing the congress program. We have exceptional keynote speakers already in place but the call for papers for speakers is still open. The hot topics across the three tracks are the impact on industry of regulations, extended producer responsibility models, access to materials and import and export dynamics, reuse and maximizing circularity. The detailed program will be published in the coming weeks.

The exclusive plant tours are of great interest to our delegates and of course ICM AG is well known for the quality of its organization and personalized delegate service.

recovery: What networking opportunities do you offer for visitors/exhibitors/speakers?

Jeanette Duttlinger: Networking at the congress is very important. Since our beginnings 30 years ago we have brought together leaders and specialists from the entire recycling value chain of each industry. Only in this way can the whole industry understand the opportunities and challenges each face, and how best to work together in the interests of a sustainable and profitable industrial sector for future generations.

In Shanghai, as well as the first morning’s plenary session, all the networking breaks and lunches which are always included at ICM AG congresses, will be held all together to maximize the opportunities to meet and do business. The high quality of the organization and the professional, friendly atmosphere at our congress contribute greatly to constructive discussions.

recovery: What factory tours are planned?

Jeanette Duttlinger: The plant tours will provide participants opportunity to key sites near Shanghai, providing an exclusive look into batteries, automotive and electronics recycling related facilities and industry best practices. A total of 7 different factory tours are offered.  Further information can be found on our website: https://events.icm.ch/event/ASIA2025/plant-tours

recovery: What are your plans for the future: Will you continue to organize these congresses in Shanghai/Asia and in this combination?

Jeanette Duttlinger: Yes, we will continue to hold congresses in Asia! Each year we will seek out the most interesting market developments and locations and continue to listen to industry and be guided by our International Steering Committee to make sure our congresses remain the most relevant and closely matching market expectations. We are so happy that ICM AG is back in Asia!

recovery: Thank you very much for the interesting insights!
