FiberXtractor from DIEFFENBACHER takes second place in the Baden-Württemberg Environmental Technology Award

The newly developed FiberXtractor steam vessel from DIEFFENBACHER was honored as the runner-up in the category “Circular Economy and Prevention of Environmental Pollution” at the Baden-Württemberg Environmental Technology Award ceremony on November 11, 2025, at the Schwabenlandhalle in Fellbach. State Secretary for the Environment Dr. Andre Baumann presented the award, established in 2009 by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Energy, to recognize companies for their products, technologies and processes that make a significant contribution to protecting the environment or conserving natural resources.

The FiberXtractor steam vessel processes wood-based fiberboards and is the centerpiece of DIEFFENBACHER’s Fiber2Fiber fiberboard recycling process. With Fiber2Fiber, wood-based panel manufacturers can, for the first time, use recycled fibers on an industrial scale as a substitute for fresh wood.

“Until now, wood fiberboards have generally been used thermally at the end of their life cycle,” reports Michael Rupp, Head of the Recycling Business Unit at DIEFFENBACHER. “With our Fiber2Fiber process, we can reuse fibers from fiberboards without any quality loss in board production. This enables us to create a circular solution for the wood-based panels industry that protects the environment and conserves resources,” he explains.

“We are delighted that our FiberXtractor won second place in this year’s Baden-Württemberg Environmental Technology Award competition. It affirms and recognizes the work by our Recycling Business Unit in fiberboard recycling over the past months and years,” says DIEFFENBACHER CEO Christian Dieffenbacher. “With extraordinary commitment, pioneering spirit and courage, we’ve created a recycling solution that’s unparalleled in the industry.”
