Inspiration

Dear Readers,

The highlight of the year was truly the highlight of the year! At IFAT in Munich, we had many great conversations, gained first-hand insights, learned about forward-looking developments, and even shared a few personal exchanges. Now we’re in the process of following up on and working through the many ideas, inspirations, and to-do items. We’re looking forward to this, and it will surely stay with us to some extent for the rest of the year. This issue also features several interesting articles we brought back from IFAT.

Nevertheless, we’re still on the go – the “BIR World Recycling Convention & Exhibition” in Gothenburg and one the world’s leading event for e-waste, battery & metal recycling and ITAD & circular electronics – the EBMI – in Frankfurt/Main are practically right around the corner. We’ll also gain interesting insights for the recovery sector from those events. A new trade fair is taking place in Paris at the end of this year – STEP,

the European Ecological Transformation Show. Read the article on this starting on p. 24.

Another exciting topic is the processing of used batteries – many recycling companies are seeking economically viable processes to recover valuable critical raw materials from battery waste. Under the theme “Hydrometallurgy in battery recycling", the article starting on p. 26 addresses the processing of black mass.

We hope you enjoy reading!
