Backers supplies high-performance starscreen technology to J+B Küpers again
With the delivery of a new wheeled 2-fraction starscreen, type 2-ma, J+B Küpers is expanding its fleet of machinery for professional soil processing. Just a few months earlier, the company had already taken delivery of a tracked 2-fraction starscreen, type 2-ta. Both machines are manufactured by Backers and are designed for efficient and flexible processing of a wide range of materials.
The two new machines are also part of a long-standing partnership between Backers and J+B Küpers that has now lasted around 30 years. In total, Backers has supplied the company with five starscreen machines. The partnership also has a strong regional connection: J+B Küpers is located just around twelve kilometres from the Backers plant in Twist/Germany.
Tailored to the application
Close cooperation with customers is an integral part of Backers’ machine concept. Long-term customer relationships are built when machines deliver reliable performance in day-to-day operation while also offering the flexibility to meet different requirements. For this reason, Backers works closely with its customers to configure each starscreen machine for its intended application.
Depending on the operating conditions, the equipment and configuration can be specifically adapted to individual requirements. Customer preferences can also be considered, ranging from technical details to the machine’s paint finish. For the two latest machines, for example, J+B Küpers opted for its own corporate red instead of the yellow typically associated with Backers machines.
Two machines for different operating
conditions
The two machines supplied differ primarily in terms of their mobility. The tracked 2-ta is particularly suitable for changing job sites and challenging terrain, for example directly on construction sites. The wheeled 2-ma, on the other hand, is designed for applications where fast relocation on paved surfaces is required.
Both machines operate according to Backers’ 2-fraction starscreen principle. The diesel-hydraulic drive is powered by a 140 kW engine. With a screening deck measuring 6700 × 1200 mm, the machines are designed for high throughput rates and efficient material processing.
One of the key strengths of the starscreen technology is its ability to process cohesive, wet and difficult-to-screen materials. Even with sticky soils, the starscreen principle enables reliable material separation. This allows the technology to be used economically under changing weather conditions and with wet feed material.
With throughput capacities of up to 200 m³ per hour, large quantities of material can also be processed efficiently. High discharge heights facilitate the feeding of downstream processes and the formation of appropriately sized stockpiles. An integrated remote maintenance system also supports rapid diagnostics and helps reduce potential downtime.
Starscreen technology for a wide range of applications
Starscreen technology is at the core of Backers’ expertise. For more than 35 years, the company has continuously developed the technology, focusing on applications where high throughput, reliable material separation and efficient processes are essential.
Backers starscreen machines are used for much more than conventional soil processing. They can be used to process both mineral and organic materials, including applications in earthworks, soil processing and recycling.
The key is the combination of high-performance starscreen technology, flexible mobility and a machine configuration tailored to the specific application. The diverse requirements of users also provide the basis for the continuous development of the machines and their equipment.
Continuing a long-standing partnership
With this latest investment, J+B Küpers is continuing its long-standing cooperation with Backers and expanding its machinery fleet with two different mobile solutions for material processing.
The partnership is a good example of how technical development and long-term customer relationships can go hand in hand. By tailoring the machines to different operating conditions, Backers provides the basis for efficient and reliable operation in a wide range of soil processing, earthworks and recycling applications.
The delivery of the two starscreen machines thus continues a partnership that has lasted for around three decades while also highlighting the versatility of Backers’ starscreen technology.
