The European Commission is taking part in Ecomondo 2022 – from 8 to 11 November 2022 at the Rimini Expo Centre – to bring visitors up to speed with the latest European funding opportunities for the circular economy. This year the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA), the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA) and the European Research Executive Agency (REA), representing the European Commission, joined forces to participate with several activities:

• Workshops and events

• Joint EU Stand with three Executive Agencies

• Projects and companies pitches

• One-to-EU meeting with European Commission representatives

At the stand EU funded projects from the three different Agencies will showcase their results and solutions. You will also have the chance to meet European Commission representatives for one-to-one meetings on funding opportunities.

About the three executive agencies

1 European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA)

The European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) has been established by the European Commission to implement parts of EU funding programmes. The Agency has a key role in supporting the European Green Deal – one of the European Commission’s main strategic priorities. CINEA manages seven EU programmes worth around €55 billion: Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), Horizon Europe, LIFE Programme, European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF), Innovation Fund, EU Renewable Energy Financing Mechanism and Just Transition Mechanism.

2 European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA)

The European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA) implements the European Innovation Council and manages other EU programmes focusing on SME support, innovation and the single market. The European Innovation Council (EIC) has been established under the EU Horizon Europe programme. It has a budget of €10.1 billion (2021-2027) to support game changing innovations throughout the lifecycle from early stage research, to proof of concept, technology transfer, and the financing and scale up of start-ups and SMEs.

3. European Research Executive Agency (REA)

Established by the European Commission, the European Research Executive Agency (REA) implements different EU programmes: Parts of Horizon Europe (among which “Food, bioeconomy, natural resources, agriculture and environment”), parts of Horizon 2020, the Research Fund for Coal and Steel and the Promotion of agricultural products’ programme. From 2021 to 2027 REA will invest over €22.7 billion to support research and innovation. The agency will thus contribute to the achievement of the EU Green Deal’s climate action goals and the five EU Missions under Horizon Europe for a greener, healthier, inclusive and resilient Europe.
