ALBA Group: Orderly handover at the turn of the year
The Berlin-based recycling company ALBA is organising the internal succession within the Waste Operations national (COO) division of the Executive Board at an early stage and through an orderly process: with effect from 1 January 2027, Rainer Kröger will hand over responsibility for the division – which brings together the German waste management and recycling business within the waste segment – to Dr Christoph Franzke. Rainer Kröger, who has played a key role in shaping and successfully developing the division over more than a decade, will remain with the company as General Representative.
Continuity and experience are maintained
As General Representative, Mr Kröger will continue to be responsible for the dual-system (packaging) business and municipal partnerships, and will induct his successor into his new role.
“The success of Waste Operations in Germany is inextricably linked to the work of Rainer Kröger. Over many years, he has built up and further developed the division with great dedication, a keen understanding of the market, and foresight. The handover is taking place at a time when the division is very well positioned strategically, operationally and in terms of personnel. The fact that Mr Kröger will remain associated with ALBA and contribute his experience on key issues is a great asset for our company,” says Dr Eric Schweitzer, representing the owner family.
A successor from within the company
“In Dr Christoph Franzke, we have secured a true operational expert as his successor. Not only does he know the company very well, but he has also held various management and regional director roles within the organisation. Dr Franzke therefore brings the ideal combination of skills to seamlessly build on Mr Kröger’s successful work whilst also providing fresh impetus – a transition just as it should be,” says Dr Robert Arbter, CEO.
