Donaldson: Sophisticated filtration technology - Eliminating dust while optimizing processes

The waste management and recycling industry involves a wide variety of sorting and processing activities that range from labor intensive hand picking operations to highly mechanized or technically complex processes. Whatever the method used, processes involved in the waste handling and recycling operation will generate dust. Donaldson filtration systems collect even the most complex pieces of fibrous dust which are always challenging in terms of consistency. The filtration solutions presented at IFAT include the PowerCore® CPC Series that comes with extremely compact filter packs that handle high airflows and challenging particulate, and the Cased Dalamatic® (DLMC) dust collector, a popular choice for light and fluffy dust applications.

Today’s streamlined and lean waste management and recycling facilities often demand peak performance even within the smallest spaces. A stand-alone PowerCore CPC Series dust collector is up to 50 % smaller than a traditional baghouse. It uses less floor space and fits into tight spaces. The dust collectors are available in a range of airflows from 1189 to 56 067 m3/h. An optimized airflow management system delivers optimal pulse cleaning while minimizing airflow restriction.

The dust collector is equipped with Donaldson’s innovative PowerCore® filter packs. Combining Donaldson’s proven and proprietary Ultra-Web® surface-loading technology with a rugged flutedmedia configuration, PowerCore filter packs last longer, clean easier, have lower emissions and eliminate bridging. The filter packs are small, lightweight, and can easily be handled by one person only. One 178 mm filter pack replaces up to six 2.4 m standard fabric filter bags. The filter packs can be removed with one hand and no tools in minutes. In addition, they have 78 % fewer emissions than traditional polyester filter bags. Using PowerCore filter packs leads to reduced freight and installation costs, fewer filter changeouts, lower maintenance costs, and no entry requirements for filter changes.

The Dalamatic is a stand-alone collector with support legs and hopper. It provides continuous filtration of high dust concentrations at high filtration velocities and constant levels of resistance in a range of airflows from 2550 to 130 000 m3/h. A full range of sizes and types of bags are available for a wide variety of dust collection applications, including Dura-Life bag filters. Envelope-shaped bags provide maximum filter area per given space and ensure efficient cleaning. The collector’s modular design gives dimensional and capacity flexibility.

PowerCore (CPV) and Dalamatic (DLMV) are also available as bin vent collectors that can easily be integrated into a variety of material-handling applications even in tight spaces, providing source filtration that saves money and energy. This also avoids ductwork as well as expensive dust discharge systems.
